On Thursday June 13th 1974 four terrorists arrived at Kibutz Shamir. They entered one of the buildings shooting Edna Mor and Shoshana Galili. The terrorists continued into the Kibutz shooting at random. From those shooting, Judi Sinton a volunteer from New Zealand died. The members of the kibutz returned fire killing the four.
Edna was 28 years old. Shoshana, 58 and Judi 19.

for youth and all its excitement for adventure. i remember the tragedy of losing a fellow volunteer and the despair that followed. my condolances to the familys of those lost during this tragic event. thinking of you all.x

Why didn't I think to google the kibbutz years ago!!! duh! For some reason I thought that Shamir no longer existed. Maybe one day I shall visit and see where my beloved sister lived for the last month on her 18 year old life.

I was 6 years old and living on Shamir in 1974. I will never forget the horrors of that day. And I'll never forget the beautiful women we lost that day. Thank you for honoring them with this site.

In the late 1970's I worked as a volunteer on the kibbutz both in the kitchen and in the orchard. Thrilled to realise Shamir is still thriving, maiden name Waters. My prayers are with you all.
