On Sunday January 22nd 1995 at 9:30 am a suicide bomber exploded in the Beit Leed junction station packed with soldiers waiting for their ride.
Many people on site ran to help the wounded.
A second suicide bomber who exploded him self minutes later killed Shabtai. In the two explosions 22 people were killed, 21 soldiers and one civilian.
Amongst the killed was a young soldier, Maya Kopstein 19 years old.
