Central Monument

On Tuesday July 6th 1948 during the first pause of the independence war, Zalman Shapira drove to Haifa on a mission from his “Hagana” commander. Near Ein Ayala and Kefar Jabaa, an arab mob attacked Zalman and his mother in law, killed them, burned their truck and stole Zalman’s gun.
Zalman was 42 years old.
