Flight Swissair 330 from Zurich to Tel Aviv crashed as a result of a terror attack.
On February 21st, 1970, inside the Swissair airplane with 38 passengers and 9 crew members, a bomb exploded about 9 minutes from takeoff. The pilots tried to turn the plane back to Zurich but they couldn’t see anything with the smoke in the cockpit. The plane crashed in a forest near Zurich after losing electrical power. All people on board, passengers and crew were killed.
Among the dead 15 were Israelis.
The Bomb was intended for an El Al flight from Munich, but because of delays was moved to the Swissair flight .
The Front for liberation of Palestine headed by George Chabash took responsibility and said the bomb was designed to detonate at a certain height according to barometric pressure.
